HEAD'S VIEW
It seems strange to be wishing you a happy and relaxing Easter break when the Easter weekend has already come and gone and we have been back in school. Ah well, I am told that it will be about 2060 before this happens again … and I doubt that I will be writing the Head's View! Nevertheless, after a successful and busy term during which we have moved forward on many fronts, I hope you all have a well-deserved break.

I am going to make my part very brief because today, for one day only, we have a new Headteacher and she would like to add her own 'Head’s View'. Her name is Miss Emilie Noad and I hear that she is extremely well-qualified to do the job. Miss Noad grabbed this opportunity through the ReNewbridge ‘Auction of Promises’ and I understand a fortune was paid for the privilege. Miss Noad has had a busy day today, attending a staff meeting, relaxing with the staff at breaktimes, visiting all the classes with her 'Well Done!' stickers and working out how to spend her budget of £25. She has been extremely impressive (too impressive, I might add!).

We will see you all again on Monday 21st April. Take good care and our particular thoughts and prayers go to Jeorgia (5W) and Jarrel Scott (1H) whose father passed away last week after an illness. Our thoughts are with them and their lovely family.

MISS NOAD'S VIEW
As I am head for the day one of my jobs is to write the head's view. Wow, what a term we have had here at Newbridge. There has been so much going on, for example raising money for Lepra and many school trips such as Kilve Court, Life Skills and the Roman Baths.

As a school we have taken part in many sporting events including football, hockey and netball. I would like to congratulate everyone that took part in these events.

Just to let you know there will be a cake sale after the Easter holidays where the staff will provide the cakes!! There will be more details after the holidays.

Have a great Easter Holiday!
Emilie Noad

YEAR 2 TRIP TO THE AMERICAN MUSEUM, BATH
On Tuesday my class went to The American Museum and we had a really fun day. The first thing we did was went down stairs and learned some really cool things, like shoes were called moccasins, made of deer skin and most interesting of all that they all had different bottoms! After that we had a snack which was doughnuts and they were really yummy! Then we went into a special room and Harvey and Naomi got dressed in Indian clothes. Then we went to the log cabin and did an activity. And after that we had lunch and went to the tepee. When we were in the tepee everyone was pretending to be Indians by going "aw aw aw arrrrrrr!" Then we walked around the gardens and came back to school.

On Tuesday 25th March all the year 2 people went to the American Museum. We went on a coach and on the way I sat next to Daniel and on the way back I sat next to nobody. When we got there we had to wait for an old posh granny. When she came we went into the Museum and into a room with lots of dressing up clothes. Faisal dressed up in red leggings and a deer skin shirt and next Lucy dressed up too and she wore a dress and a necklace. Then it was snack time and we had half a doughnut and a drink. Then we got to play on a field. Then we went to a little hut. We hung up our coats and lunch and then we sat at a table. We had to choose an object from the table I chose a boat. We had to draw a picture of the object and label it. Then my class split up. I went with a lady and she was wearing a red jumper. We went into a big building and we went up some steps and into a room with some carpets. They were over 100 years old. We went down some stair cases and into a room with lots of displays. There were lots of TVs and it was talking about American people. We went to a room with lots of different Plains Indian shoes and then we went to explore the grounds. Finally we got on the coach and went back to school.

On Tuesday we went to the American Museum and we were very excited. First we went to the log cabin and we saw some artefacts. I held a deer horn, it was hard and dark. Next we went to the museum and I saw a rifle and we saw some famous people. Two children were dressed up. One was an Indian chief. After lunch we walked around and we visited a tepee. It was an exciting day.

GYMNASTICS COMPETITION
On 13th March four teams of gymnasts entered a competition at Baskervilles Gym, two teams from years 3 and 4 and two teams from years 5 and 6.

The teams from years 3 and 4 competed first on the beam and the bars. After that they each did a floor routine and then everyone had a turn on the vault. They all got to chose between a stretch, star, straddle or tuck jump. The children in the years 5 and 6 teams also performed on the apparatus first, followed by a floor routine and finished off on the vault. Everyone really enjoyed themselves and thought it was great fun.

The children would like to thank Mr Croker and Mrs Lynch for coaching and supporting and Mrs Bartlett for organising the afternoon. They would also like to thank everyone who came along to support.

('The competition was of a very high standard and our girls and boys more than held their own. Our under 9 teams came second and sixth and our under 11 teams came third and fifth. Well done to all of you!' Mr Croker)
