A BIG 'THANK YOU' TO OUR CHILDREN
We would like to thank our children for filling out the children's questionnaire at the end of last term. It was really useful and helped us with our plans to make the school even better in the future. We would like to thank five children in particular [Harrison (6CS), Hannah (6JS), Isaac (6A), Katie (5PB) and Aisling (5C)] who spent hours putting the questionnaire together and then hours more sorting out all the answers. They found that most of the children really enjoy school and their learning, that the staff and children are caring and kind, and that they feel safe. Things to work on include lunchtimes and playtimes and feelings were mixed about homework! Last year's Willow class would like more dancing and a swimming pool while Elm class would settle for a chocolate factory. Now, that would be a first!

WE NEED YOUR HELP!
We would like to widen the range of activities for our children when it is a wet playtime or lunchtime. If you have any board games (no electronic games please), comics or such like which are in good condition and you are happy to donate to the school, we would be most grateful. These would also be great for our breakfast club children too. Please send in with your child to the class teacher. Thank you!
FAMILY USE OF LEARNING RESOURCE CENTRE – BOOKS AND COMPUTERS GALORE!
The LRC has now opened for family use at the end of school on Mondays and Fridays. There has not been the rush we thought there would be, so we are now opening use of the LRC to the whole school on these two days. All we ask is that you sign in at the office so that we are not swamped on any one particular day! Mr Day is on hand both days in the LRC to offer his help.
CELEBRATING WRITING
The Apple
I saw an apple, it was red and green.
My apple smelt sweet and fresh.
It tasted juicy.
It felt hard.
When I ate it I heard a crunch.

NPSA NEWS
Last Thursday, Newbridge Primary School Association had its Annual General Meeting. This was a Cheese and Wine Evening and we would like to thank all of you who came along and helped make it such a fun evening! Attendance was up on last year, which is great. Although, I do wonder how much that had to do with the free wine...
For those of you who were unable to come, this is what went on. Both our outgoing Chair, Jackie Ainsworth, and Mr Croker thanked all of those who helped out in any way, big or small, at the many events organised by the NPSA last year. These included the phenomenally successful Auction of Promises, the Christmas Fair, Quiz night, the Fashion Show and the many cake sales. The outgoing Treasurer, Stephanie Massie, then told us how the money raised at these events was spent on a variety of projects which all benefit our children's education. These include a sound and lighting system for the main hall, library books and equipment, staging and musical instruments. These are all things for the whole school to enjoy and we would like to thank anyone who gave either their time or their money to make a difference to the school. We can now also confirm the list of officers and class reps for 08/09. An enormous thank you goes to the outgoing officers from last year, Sarah Webb, Jackie Ainsworth and Stephanie Massie, although I am happy to announce that both Jackie and Stephanie remain with us, albeit in different roles.

I am sure you have noticed that two of the year six classes are without representation, so if your child is in one of these classes, please volunteer. You can share the job with another person if you like. If you are interested in this role and would like to know what it involves, please drop a note with your name and contact number in the NPSA tray at the main reception. Your school needs you! We also thought it might be useful if you knew what your class reps look like - so you know who to grab or who to avoid! So, to that end we are asking all class reps to supply photos of themselves and leave them in the NPSA tray in reception by next Friday.
Finally, I would like to remind you that, as parents, you are all members of the NPSA and as such are welcome at all committee meetings. So come and join us at the next meeting. This is to be held in the Blue Room at 7.30pm on Monday 6th October. Main items on the agenda will be planning the future fundraising events for the whole year and putting together a team to organise the Christmas Fair. So, if you have any good ideas for fundraising events, or if you would just like an insight into how the NPSA works, then come along on Monday. We look forward to seeing you there!
