HEAD'S VIEW
We are busy putting many plans in place for September, not least class organisation, and I will be letting you know about classes and staffing for September shortly after half term.
Ahead of that I would like to outline our policy in this aspect. Firstly, I can confirm that there will be no mixed year classes in the school and that is a principle we do all we can to adhere to (numbers permitting). That does mean that some classes will have slightly higher numbers than others but we believe that is far more preferable than mixing years to balance numbers. We will also target support in classes depending on certain criteria and one of those is class size. Secondly, there is sometimes a need to reassemble classes within a year due to an imbalance of numbers or to achieve a better social and academic mix. Where this is the case it is our policy to consult the children on friendship groupings and then decide among the staff on the best balance across the classes in that year. We will take into account a variety of factors and then make our decisions based on the desire to achieve the best academic and social mix across the classes. This has to be our decision. Only where there are exceptional circumstances, that we are not already aware of, would parents be involved in this process. Rest assured that any decision we make is to achieve the best for every single girl and boy under our care.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend and that this fantastic weather stays with us!

HOT WEATHER ADVICE
In accordance with local authority advice can you please ensure that in hot and sunny weather you apply sun cream to your child before they come to school. The children should also bring a named sun hat and water bottle.
Due to health and safety reasons we are unable to apply sun cream in school, so we suggest you use a once a day formula cream. In light of this please do not send sun cream into school.
YOU ARE INVITED TO THE RENEWBRIDGE CELEBRATIONS
on Friday 23rd May 2008 from 3.30pm – 5.30pm
This invite is extended to all our families, last year's leavers and their families, and our neighbours. There will be an opening of the new building, a variety of simple family games and activities for anyone who wants to participate, a chance to see the new facilities and free ice creams! Most of all, this is a chance to relax together and celebrate what we have achieved. You are more than welcome to bring your own picnics. (The reserve date for this event is Friday 13th June if the weather is against us).
CHANGE OF DATE
Please note that 2RB's assembly will now take place on Thursday 19th June instead of 12th June.
On Thursday 12th June the whole of Year 2 will be putting on a performance. More details to follow.

NEWBRIDGE PARENTS ASSOCIATION WINS TROPHY!
We went with Mrs Rixson and Mrs Sellick to Bath Spa station in a taxi then we got on a train to Paddington. We got on an underground train to Victoria and then another one to Green Park. By now we were very excited. We walked to Lancaster House and it was full of gold, real gold, it was amazing! We met a person called Caroline who showed us around and told us what was going to happen. Then we sat down with everybody else to see who had won the trophy. When we heard that Newbridge School had won the trophy and a thousand pounds, we were shocked but very pleased. Then we went out and saw Buckingham Palace. We had something to eat on the train back to Bath. When we got back to Newbridge we chatted to Mr Croker and told him that we had had a really fun day. By Elijah and Lucas.
Mrs Sellick and Mrs Rixson were very proud of Lucas and Elijah – their behaviour was brilliant. It was an exhausting day but they didn’t complain once!
('And I feel very proud of the four who represented us and the hundreds who have given so much to ReNewbridge. Congratulations to you all!' Mr Croker)
NPSA NEWS
Year 3 & 4 Cake Sale – Friday 16th May
Start your weekend with a treat! Weather permitting, the year 3 & 4 cake sale will take place outside the new building – if not, then in the Blue Room. Please come along, encourage your friends and acquaintances, put a smile on your child's face, and support our fundraising efforts. We are currently building a fund to purchase a wide range of musical instruments for the whole school to use. Thank You!
Calling all Sparkys'
NPSA is purchasing a new cooker for the Blue Room kitchen and we are looking for a qualified electrician amongst our community who would donate his/her time to wire a cooker socket. Please contact the school office if you are willing and able to do this. Many thanks.
