NEWSLETTER Issue: 6.01

DEPUTY HEAD'S VIEW
Welcome back everyone to the last term of the school year! As always a busy term lies ahead. We especially welcome back Miss Palmer, who has now returned from maternity absence following the birth of her son Isaac. She is returning for four days a week and therefore Mr Baigent will be teaching alongside Miss Palmer in Class 5D on a Friday.

This week sees the Year 6 children in the Isle of Wight for the annual residential trip along with 6 members of staff and for the majority of the week, Mr Croker. (I was asked if he had completed a holiday form!). Although a little soggy at the start of the week, spirits were not dampened and by all accounts have had a wonderful time. We look forward to hearing more on their return.

Please can I ask all parents to ensure that all school clothing is named. The pile of lost property mounted last term and we were unable to return much of this to the rightful owners. May I also ask that all children adhere to agreed uniform policy; it has been noted that a number of children are wearing trainers and non-school sweatshirts. Please note that as of September 2008 all children are required to wear school clothing bearing the new school logo.

Many thanks to those parents who have been able to return the parental questionnaire. Your comments are extremely valuable to us in helping move the school forward, therefore if you have not returned it, please do so as soon as possible.

You will note that I have sent an accompanying letter regarding Breakfast Club. I am extremely keen to offer this on more days and so please urge you to complete the attached slip indicating your provisional needs. The club that currently operates on a Wednesday is extremely successful and enjoyable.

A NOTE FROM THE NPSA TREASURER
As the next fund-raising event, the Fashion Show, approaches, I thought you'd all like to know what we have been doing with the money we've raised so far this year. Well, the list so far includes:
· children's cooking ingredients
· seeds etc. for gardening club
· santa's presents at the Christmas Fair
· trips and events for the children e.g. food for Greek Day, Papermaking workshop, the Roman Baths Tour, trip to the American Museum
· refreshments for Book at Bedtime
· a piano
· display boards
· hockey goalie kit and netball bibs
· hats for the Dance Umbrella costumes
· breakfast for SATS students
In addition, ReNewbridge money has so far been spent on the new staging and the sound and lighting system in the main hall, and books and chairs for the new library.
We are now hoping to raise enough money to buy musical instruments so that there are at least enough for one between every two children during music lessons from next year, so please support the Fashion Show.
Tickets for the Fashion Show, on Friday June 13th, are £5, including a glass of wine, and are available from NPSA members, class reps and Reception.
