It is that time of year when we are putting our plans in place for the next academic year and, with that in mind, I would like to let you know details of classes and teachers for September. You will notice that Mrs Phillips is not on that list. That is because she has been appointed, with effect from September, to a teaching post at Box Primary School. Mrs Phillips will be a member of the management team and this is a great opportunity for her to make the most of her skills and expertise. More will be said about Mrs Phillips later in the term but I just want to say that we will be losing a very talented and committed teacher and a very important member of our team. I am sure you will all join me in offering our congratulations to her.

LITERACY WEEK
Literacy Week has been a great success and enjoyed by all – children and staff! Thank you to everyone who has helped in any way; to staff and students, to Lesley Waters and her team of helpers for organising the hot chocolate at Book at Bedtime, to the School Association for funding Storybox Theatre, to Ishbel Tovey for helping run the Book Fair and last but not least, to the children for joining in with such enthusiasm! Many thanks, Di Rhodes.
(‘We would also like to thank Mrs Rhodes for organising an excellent week. She has put a lot of hard work into this to make it so memorable and enjoyable for us all.’ Mr Croker)
LOST
Green cap with camouflage lining and neck flap, labelled. Please hand in to the office if found. Thank you.
THANK YOU!
The Kitchen staff and Breakfast Club staff would like to thank Mr Andy Lawrence, dad of Isha in Willow class, for donating and delivering a freezer this week. We have been looking for one for a long time. This will be a great help for lots of different things.
CONGRATULATIONS
Well done to Sydney who has achieved a place at the Regional Multi-Skill Academy. She is one of only eight pupils to make it through from BANES so it is a great achievement.

NPSA NEWS
Newbridge Summer Fete – Saturday July 11th 2.00pm – 4.30pm
Preparations for the fair are well under way and we are pleased to announce that as well as an events ring and a competition tent - there will be a magician, a bouncy castle obstacle course, a penalty shoot-out, cream teas and Mr Croker in the stocks! It should be a fun-packed day! Here is a list of stalls we are also hoping to run at this year’s fair:
- Splat the rat
- Hook a duck and the frog game
- Treasure map
- Lucky dip
- Tattoos
- Lose your marbles
- Flying saucers
- The egg game
- Guess the number of sweets in a jar
- Ice cream
- Adults tombola
- Chocolate tombola
- Soft drinks and water
- Creepy crawly face paints
- Barbecue
If you would like to take any of these on, then please fill in the slip below and return it to the NPSA tray in reception as soon as possible. Please feel free to volunteer on your own or with a team of families. You will need to be at the school in time to set up, run and clear up on the day of the fair. We really are in need of volunteers so please come forward and help us reach our £3000 target for the adventure playground and have some fun at the same time! We are particularly in need of families to run the barbecue. It would be great if, say, a team of fathers (or mothers for that matter!) could get together, bring along their barbecues and cook up a feast!
Summer Fair Poster Competition
We are thrilled to announce that Elise Preedy from 1H has won the poster competition. You will all be able to see what a fantastic job she has done when the posters go up around the school and in the community! Well done Elise!
A special mention must go to our runner-up, Isobel Parker Year 5, who also came up with a fantastic design!
Wanted!
Four things this week!
- Does anyone out there have a sewing machine they no longer need which they would be willing to donate to the school? It would make making costumes for our up-coming productions much easier!
- If you have a CD player you no longer need the school would be very grateful!
- Gazebos and party tents. It would be great if you could bring these to the summer fair and put them up for us!
- Ice boxes – Thanks to Susan Whitehead we now have a freezer to store ice-creams in! Thank you! But it would be great if we could get hold of a few ice boxes to take the ice-creams onto the field in!
If you can help please pop a note in the NPSA tray in reception or send an email to npsa@hotmail.co.uk. Thank you!
Ice-creams
These will be on sale after school from Friday 19th June - every Friday until the end of term! So bring your money and make your way to the field!
